This section of the website has been dormant for months...so I am finally giving you installment one. Each week I will be pulling together links from the web, design tips, etc...that all revolve around sustainability through design.
The first installment is story that I came
across dealing with the recycling of plastic bags...Seems like a high school kid with a science fair project has come up with a way to decompose a
plastic bag in months as opposed to a couple hundred years. Its makes you wonder why Dow or
DuPont couldnt't come up with this. Click below on the link to get the breakdown.
http://www.inhabitat.com/2008/05/28/breakthrough-decomposes-plastic-bags-in-three-months/The second story I have isn't really a story but rather a product. I was
looking for a better way for me to drink my morning
Joe. The best way is use a mug (
which I do) but I do love to drink from a paper cup. Maybe it is what Starbucks has
ingrained in me. I was
looking for recycled cups. lids, etc...I came
across http://www.espressoparts.com/ They have a full range of recycled paper cups, flat lids that are made of 100% corn and
plastic like Solo cups made of corn. So now you can drink you
Joe or a M
ojito and not feel guilty that cup you are drinking out of will be around until after this century....Hit the link below to peep the cups and lids.
